Charleston Maritime Festival

In May, Charleston’s Maritime Center Complex and the Ansonborough Field transform into a celebration of aquatic culture. Live music will entertain the crowds as they explore and support the craft displays and art exhibits. Family boatbuilding classes and sailing lessons are ideal to enhance the family’s teamwork, patience, and appreciation for coastal society. Evening parties will take place throughout the weekend, offering low-country foods and southern-style entertainment. Tour the shipyards and the USS Carter Hall, the Navy Amphibious Transport Dock Ship, or appreciate displays of hand-crafted wooden ships. Some highlights of the 2007 festival include the Tall Ships, the Charleston Bermuda Race, and the Spirit of South Carolina celebration.
