Charleston Insider's Guide > Hotels & Lodging > Charleston, SC Resorts
Staying at a resort in Charleston is a great option for those who want everything at their fingertips. Most of the best resorts are all-inclusive, which means that you pay one set price for the length of your stay. While inside the resort, dining and drinks are usually free. Other resort specialties are also usually included; just make sure you know what you're getting before you book your final accommodations.
Most resorts in the Charleston area are 20 or more miles from downtown. If sightseeing is something you don't care to do, or if you think you can experience downtown all in one trip a resort might be right for you. What these places lack in location, they make up for in amenities. Some resorts have golf courses; others have kid friendly activities which are great for a family vacation. You will also find that some of these resorts have private beaches, sometimes right outside your room, where you can relax without having to worry about huge crowds.
All of the resorts we've listed have at least one restaurant, and most of them have several. Since dining on-site is included in the overall price, budgeting is made very easy. The only things you usually have to pay for are events that take place outside the resort or, in some cases, luxury options inside the resort.
While you might think that resorts are expensive and they're not right for you, keep in mind what is included with the cost of admission. When you factor in a round of golf , three meals a day for your family, spa service, and a chartered boat, you might find that a seemingly expensive resort is truly your best value.
